Forwarding merchant
In logistics, forwarding merchants ensure that goods and merchandise reach their destination punctually and effectively. This includes tasks such as communicating with customers (often in English if it is international business), observing import and export regulations, calculating prices, drafting schedules, choosing the appropriate means of transport and selecting the right packaging. The job requires commercial education as a forwarding or export merchant.
Logistics manager
Logistics managers are responsible for the entire flow of goods and the warehouse. Typical tasks include the operational management of the warehouse and the entire logistics process. This involves, among other things, organising the warehouse with incoming and outgoing goods, planning process flows, monitoring all processes and assessing costs and performance. The position requires training as a logistics specialist or commercial training with further training in the field of logistics or a degree in business administration.
Picker
Pickers assemble the goods for transport, pack them carefully and scan the goods onto the IT system. They then transport the goods to the trucks using a forklift and help with loading and unloading. A forklift licence is required.
Warehouse clerk
Lageristen oder auch Lagerverwalter kennen das Lager wie ihre Westentasche. Die Lagermitarbeiter übernehmen unter anderem die Entgegennahme von Waren, Bestandsprüfung, Kommissionierung, das Ausfüllen von Lagerpapieren, Be- und Entladen von LKWs und der Transport und Palettisieren der Ware innerhalb des Lagers. Lageristen benötigen einen Staplerausweis.
Forklift driver
Forklift drivers are warehouse employees and take care of storing, transferring and retrieving goods, loading and unloading trucks, transporting goods within the warehouse, checking goods and picking goods with a hand-held scanner. Of course, as a forklift driver, a forklift licence is also required.
Professional driver
Professional drivers are responsible for transporting products on the road. This can involve raw materials for production, individual parts or the finished goods. This makes them an indispensable part of logistics. The main priority of the job is delivering goods and merchandise on time and without damage. In addition to the actual transport, professional drivers also control and maintain the vehicles.
